Discover the work of contemporary artists commissioned by the Museum.
From the day it opened, the Museum has always displayed the older images in its collection alongside contemporary works.
The result of this original concept can be seen from the entrance to the permanent exhibition hall, where the journey through the Museum begins with a photograph by Karen Knorr entitled The Pencil of Nature. Commissions and acquisitions, loans from other Museums, regular collaboration with the regional and national contemporary art funds and conferences punctuate the life of the Museum, allowing the public to see and expand their understanding of the work of major national and international artists throughout the year.
